Lansdowne Leash Laws: Your pets may be in danger!

Did you know that Lansdowne has strict leash laws?
Did you know that they apply to cats as well as dogs?

Animal Friends of Lansdowne have received complaints about animals running loose in your neighborhood. Our community has reasonable leash laws for pets that are designed to protect both residents and their animals. NEITHER DOGS NOR CATS ARE PERMITTED TO RUN LOOSE IN OUR BOROUGH. If you allow your pets to run loose, you are jeopardizing their health and safety, your neighbors’ rights to the peaceful enjoyment of their property, and your reputation as a good neighbor.

If your pets are found roaming, you may be subject to penalties, including citations, fines, even arrest. Worse yet, your beloved pets are in danger. They may be picked up by Delaware County Animal Control and impounded. Left unleashed and unprotected, pets are susceptible to many diseases (including fatal ones), attacks on or by other animals, danger from automobiles, poisoning, and pregnancy if they are not neutered. And did you know that indoor cats live more than three times longer, on average, than those who roam out of doors?

To learn more about Lansdowne’s leash laws in their entirety, visit their web site at www.lansdowneborough.com, click on Ordinances and Codes, then view the complete code book. Or you may visit the Borough offices and submit your request for information. State and local ordinances are also available through our Resources page.

We all love our pets. Please do your part to keep them safe!

[This information is also available in a downloadable flyer (pdf) which you can print out and give to neighbors who need it!]
