Who We Are

Animal Friends of Lansdowne is an organization comprised of citizens who are passionate about animals and animal issues. We are concerned about the responsible management of our domestic and feral animals, and about making Lansdowne a safe haven for people and animals to live in harmony.

To this end, we are committed to such issues as animal rescue and adoption, population control, health and sanitation, education and awareness, and, always, the humane treatment of all animals.

Marty needs a special home    Posted Jan 10 2008

At AFL, we get a great many pleas from shelters or individuals looking for homes for unwanted pets. We found Marty’s story so extraordinary, that we wanted to share it with you and help get the word out about his plight.

Meet Marty

MartyMarty is a sweet, sweet pit bull. Someone thought it would be a great idea to cut his ears off. Not such a great idea. Marty has been with us for almost a year. Some people are scared of Marty, because of the way he looks, but if they took the time to know him, they would see what a gentle, loving boy he is. Marty is a wonderful dog, and loves to play with other dogs. MARTY GOES WITH OUR HUMANE OFFICER TO MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOLS IN THE AREA TO EDUCATE STUDENTS ON ANIMAL CRUELTY. He is a good gentle boy and takes treats from your hand calmly. He is waiting patiently for his loving new home. Marty has been at the shelter WAY to long and keeps wondering why no one is coming to take him home. Come see all of Marty’s wonderful features and see if you have it in your heart to look beyond his cut ears and give him the forever home he so deserves!

If you think you might be interested in helping Marty, please contact the shelter, directly.

Welcome to the AFL Blog!    Posted Jun 17 2007

As president of AFL, it is my pleasure to be the first to post an entry on Animal Friends of Lansdowne’s brand-new blog! I hope that this will be the first of many entries, and that you will use this as your site to talk about companion animal issues in and around our community. Having a problem with animals in your neighborhood? Share it here! Need help or advice about your pets? Comments or questions about area vets? Let’s talk about it! Thanks to Alethea, our Web Goddess, for setting this site up. Please enjoy it this site. Best wishes, Fran.
