Delaware County Council “Unleashes” first Dog Park
Kent Park in Upper Darby Township
Thursday July 24, 2008 1 PM

Delaware County Council joins with Upper Darby Township in hosting an Open House and official “Unleashing of the Dogs” at the new Kent Park Dog Park in Upper Darby. Humane organizations and the general public are invited to join County Council and Upper Darby officials at this event to celebrate this new facility for dog owners and their pets. The Kent Park Dog Park is part of the 10-acre, multi-use recreational facility located near the Lindbergh Bridge in the 3900 block of Bridge Street, off of Baltimore Pike.This is the county’s first official dog park where registered pet owners can unleash their dogs for exercise, play activities and socialization with other canines.You are invited to attend the official “Unleashing” ceremony at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 24, in Kent Park, followed by the Open House. The Dog Park will officially open to the public on Aug. 1. The Open House, will take place 1-6 p.m. July 24.Of course, guests are invited to bring their canine companions who might enjoy the dog park.

Directions to Kent Park from Lansdowne: Take Baltimore Pike West toward Springfield. Before Springfield Road, turn right on Marple Avenue, which turns into Bridge Street. Cross the Lindbergh Bridge. Take an immediate left staying on lower Bridge Street. Kent Park will be on your left. Parking area is at the bottom of the hill.


Lost Cat - "Tiddles" (5/2008)

TiddlesTiddles, lost in the vicinity of West Essex Ave. in Lansdowne, only responds to the sound of a can of cat food being opened.  Here are some identifying details:

  • black fur
  • yellow eyes
  • 10 years old
  • 8-9lb in weight (can be mistaken for kitten)
  • white hairs in her coat on her shoulders
  • watery/gunky eyes (she was in a fire as a kitten)
  • very vocal
  • snores loudly
  • very friendly
  • spayed
  • recent dental surgery so can only eat wet food

Lost Mixed Breed Dog - "Tasha" (4/2008) - pdf

Lost DogTasha, a 13 year-old female dog, escaped from the back yard in Overbrook Farms (West Philadelphia) on April 1. She's not a beagle, but has those characteristics.

She's primarily black, with white spots above her eyes, and white on her chest, paws, and a white line on her forehead. She was wearing a silver choke chain (but no ID). She also limps slightly.

Lost Cat"Meow Meow" was originally lost in the Marple Crossroads Shopping Center (near Rt. 1 & 320 in Springfield), where she was being taken into PetSmart for an adoption event. Her foster home was in the Drexel Hill/Lansdowne area, so some folks are wondering if she may have headed that way. She has been missing for about 2 months. [see flyer - pdf]

Lost CatTwo year old silver tabby (male, about 15 pounds) ran away from a friend's house in Upper Darby around the intersection of Park Avenue and West Chester Pike. Owner is offering a reward for his safe return. His name is Tennessee and he is very skittish.

lost dogOn Thursday night (10/18) at about 10:30 pm, Winston disappeared from 21st and Locust. He's half westie, half cairn terrier, almost all white with a blond streak down his back, about 15 pounds, stout and low to the ground. He's wearing a black nylon harness with his id tags, and he's micro-chipped. We're desperate to get him back! If you come across him, please call any hour of the day or night - 215-834-3733.
[Update: Winston was found ..in the refrigerator! He survived the ordeal with no ill effects and is doing well.]

Cat Found (9/2007)

A cat was found in the vicinity of Nyack & Elberon Avenue, Lansdowne. Young female, long-hair domestic; salt-and-pepper color with golden tan on her belly, face, and paws; yellow/green eyes. She's in good health and seems well-groomed and taken care of. Very loving and cuddly, talks and chirps all the time.
